Travel features are my mainstay, and most of my commissions lately have revolved around America and Italy. Recent features include an 11-day road-trip around New York State, interviews with some of Italy's best artisans, heuriger-hopping in the hills around Vienna, uncovering budget Monaco and discovering the delights of Brussels beyond the Eurocrat reputation.

During my time living in the States, I hit up juke joints in Mississippi, went on a ghost hunt in Colorado, joined a pod of blue whales in the Pacific off San Diego, and married a sandwich in Las Vegas - all in the name of work. My (comparatively tame) article on San Francisco for National Geographic Traveller won the 2012 Visit USA award in the Consumer Travel Magazine category.

I'm also an expert on Italy (I've lived there and speak pretty fluent Italian) as well as Singapore, Vienna and Brussels, three destinations which I've kept going back to in 2014/15. I write a lot of budget travel and practical articles - from beating jet lag and the ins and outs of airport security to booking tips and using social media to save holiday money. Since developing a chronic illness, I also specialise in disabled travel and special assistance.

Over the next year, I'm going to be travelling to places as diverse as Yunnan, Hanoi, Lagos and Brasilia, meeting faith healers and alternative therapists as part of my book, Heal Me (more details here). For travel commissions about these destinations, please email me; for enquiries about the book, do get in touch with my agent, Ed Wilson at Johnson & Alcock.

The majority of my work in print is for National Geographic Traveller, the Sunday Times Travel Magazine, the Independent, Sunday Times, Bergdorf Goodman and the Mail on Sunday, but I've also written travel for the Guardian, Telegraph, GQ, Globe and Mail, ABTA magazine, and thelondonpaper, where I was travel editor.

Online, I wrote daily for HotelChatter as assistant editor and have written travel articles for Jaunted, VegasChatter, Condé Nast Traveler, Racked, i-escape, Jetsetter and High50. I was the Vegas expert for SimonSeeks.

I have hundreds of articles on file; the most up-to-date listings are on my profiles on LinkedIn, Muckrack and Journalisted. Older cuttings are listed below. If there's something you want to see that isn't there, just email me.

2015 travels (as of August) have included: Bosnia (Sarajevo, Mostar), Italy (Venice, Milan, Verona, Florence, Rome, Umbria, Genoa), Brussels, Antarctica, Argentina (Buenos Aires, Ushuaia), Uruguay (Montevideo, Jose Ignacio, Rocha), Falkland Islands, Vienna, Liverpool, Singapore, Bali, Hong Kong, USA (Detroit, New York State, NYC, Vegas, LA, Palm Springs, Joshua Tree, Denver, Seattle/Olympic Peninsula), Croatia (Rovinj, Pula, Zagreb).
